A radio data collection solution using the M-BUS application layer, an extended international standard derived from the commonly used M-BUS standard. In industrial practice, it is used for radio technologies in the 868 MHz and 169 MHz bands. The system is characterized by a simple network layer – a simple "star" topology without traffic control (collisions), with an application layer adapted for meter reading.
The core of the concept is one-way data transmission (from the meter to the collection system) with limited support for two-way communication, allowing for expansion with additional applications (further standard extension).
A major advantage is the mutual compatibility of different devices from various manufacturers (if the standard is strictly implemented).
