WM868-RFU USB Gateway Drivers Installation Guide
The instructions are valid for Windows 10, however, everything should also apply to lower versions of Windows 7 or 8.
PROCEDURE 1:
if there is a problem in Windows with the drivers for the USB gateway - RFU-H ( 2 virtual COM ports), follow these steps:
- In the HW Manager (in WIN10 this is the Device Manager - right-click on Start), find the appropriate COM port,
- continue until the driver is updated,
- select manual driver addition ( NOT automatic),
- select COM and LPT in the device list,
- in the list of Microsoft manufacturers
- in the list of drivers Serial port
The same procedure applies to the second serial port.
PROCEDURE 2:
On some installations of Windows 10 using native Microsoft drivers (procedure 1), it doesn't work because there are no serial ports
listed.
In this case, use the UGW3.INF file. You can download it in the "Software Downloads" section.
The installation follows the following steps:
- Find the appropriate COM in the HW manager,
- continue until the driver is updated,
- search for the driver on your computer (not an automatic search)
- press the "Browse" button and find the ugw3.inf file
- repeat for the other serial ports (USB gateway has 2)
Optoconf Installation Instructions
The instructions are valid for Windows 10, however, everything should also apply to lower versions of Windows 7 or 8.
There are 3 things needed for a successful installation:
1) driver for our IrDA - USB converter
=======================
This is an .INF file, irdaconf.inf, which you can download in the "Software Downloads" section...
When installing it you will have to work around the fact that W10 no longer supports installation of
non-digital unsigned drivers by
default
. The procedure to unblock this control is for example here:
https://www.maketecheasier.com/install-unsigned-drivers-windows10/
Once you have done this, you can install our irdaconf.inf driver by
right-clicking on it
and selecting "Install".
2) SetupJSerial.msi
===========
This library (found in the SW downloads section) is necessary for Java to work with the serial port. Note that the library only supports 32-bit Java. So you need to install an extra 32-bit variant of the JRE (Java Runtime Environment).
You can find the link here, for example: https://adoptopenjdk.net/releases.html#x32_win
Not to worry, both Java variants can coexist on the same system.
You start the SetupJSerial.msi installation just like any other program, e.g. by double-clicking.
3)
You can download the Optoconf
=================
ZIP archive directly in the Software Downloads section. You need to run the optoconf.jar program by right-clicking and selecting Open in program...
Then select the correct version of javaw.exe (the 32-bit version) from the list.
Software for download
- Optoconf - Software for optical module configuration.
- IrDAconf - Driver for our IrDA - USB converter.
- msi - This library is required for Java to work with the serial port.
- UGW3 driver for RFU - Driver for USB gateway WM868-RFU.
